How to use this template

  1. Open it as a draft

Press "Use this template" and it lands in your workspace as an editable form with all 2 questions already in it. No card, and nothing is published until you say so.

  2. Cut what you do not need

Every question you remove is one fewer reason to abandon the form. It takes about 1 minutes to fill in as it stands, and that is the number worth protecting.

  3. Add from the question bank

Pick what you are missing from the questions below. Drag any of them in, change the wording, and use conditional logic so people only see the ones that apply to them.

  4. Share it, or put it on your own site

Publish to get a link, or embed it in a page you already have. Answers arrive in your dashboard, and you can send them on to anywhere else with a webhook or an integration.

32 general enquiry form questions to choose from

A general enquiry form is the catch-all, and catch-alls get messy. The useful ones ask one routing question early and then change shape, so a supplier, a customer and a job seeker do not all answer the same irrelevant fields.

Use the groups below as the branches: pick a category question, then show only what that category needs.

The basics

  • What is your name?
  • What is your email address?
  • What is this about? (Sales, support, careers, partnership, press, other)
  • What company or organisation are you with?
  • Which country are you in?
  • How did you find us?
  • Is this your first time getting in touch?
  • How would you like us to reply?

If it is about buying

  • What are you trying to do?
  • How many people would be using it?
  • When are you hoping to start?
  • Do you have a budget range in mind?
  • Are you comparing us with anything else?
  • What would make this an easy yes?
  • Who else is involved in deciding?
  • Would a demo be useful?

If it is about a problem

  • What were you trying to do?
  • What happened instead?
  • When did it start?
  • Which page or product is it on?
  • What have you already tried?
  • Is this stopping you working right now?
  • What device and browser are you on?
  • Attach a screenshot if it helps.

Anything else

  • Are you getting in touch about a job?
  • Is this a partnership or supplier enquiry?
  • Is this about an invoice or a payment?
  • Would you like to be added to our mailing list?
  • Is there a deadline we should know about?
  • Is there anything we have not asked that we should have?
  • Would you prefer a call?
  • What is the best number for you?

General Enquiry form questions, answered

What is the difference between a general enquiry form and a contact form?
In practice, nothing, except that a general enquiry form usually handles several audiences at once. The thing that makes it work is a routing question near the top and logic that hides everything irrelevant to the answer.
Should I have one form or several?
One form with branches, unless the audiences never overlap. Several forms means somebody has to choose correctly before they have told you anything, and people choose wrong constantly.
How do I route enquiries to different inboxes?
Set up notifications that fire on the category answer, so sales enquiries land with sales and billing questions land with finance. The person filling it in never sees any of that.
Can I show different thank-you messages for different enquiries?
Yes. Outcome routing sends people to different ending screens based on their answers, so a job applicant and a customer with a broken login get the right next step rather than the same generic line.
Is this general enquiry form template free?
Yes. Use it, publish it and collect answers on the free plan with no card. Paid plans add things like payments, scheduling, removing our badge and your own domain, but none of them are needed to run this form.
Do I need an account to use it?
You need one to edit and publish, because the form has to live somewhere and the answers have to come back to you. Signing up takes about a minute and does not ask for a card. The people filling your form in never need an account.
Can I change the questions?
All of them. The template is a starting point, not a fixed form: add, remove, reword and reorder anything, change the look, and use logic so people only see the questions that apply to them.
Can I put it on my own website?
Yes. Embed it in a page you already have, or share the link. On a paid plan you can serve it from your own domain so the address says your name rather than ours.
Where do the answers go?
Into your dashboard, where you can read, search and export them as CSV. You can also have each response emailed to you, pushed to another tool with a webhook, or sent to a connected integration.
How long does this form take to fill in?
About 1 minutes as it stands, across 2 questions. Every question you cut brings that down, and shorter forms get finished more often.
